Dampness in the underground is a direct threat to foundations and floors, and if timely measures are not taken, rot, fungus and structural destruction are inevitable. Fyodor Vasiliev, a construction expert and general director of Glavsnab, warned about this on Monday, May 12. He also talked about ways to remove dampness without dismantling the floor.

According to the expert, if water accumulates regularly and it is not possible to disassemble the floor, it is recommended to check the ventilation first. The underground must be ventilated through vents, and if there are none or they are clogged, moisture will accumulate. Vasiliev reminded that the draughts should be located opposite each other for a draft, but if the draughts do not help, you need to install forced ventilation — for example, an exhaust fan with a timer.

"The second step is waterproofing the basement. If the floor is earthen, cover it with a thick film of 200 microns with an overlap on the walls. If there is a concrete screed, but moisture seeps through the seams, treat them with Penetron—type penetrating waterproofing," the expert advised in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

He also advised to try forced dehumidification. A compact dehumidifier with drainage outlet to the sewer or to the street will help maintain low humidity in the underground, he concluded.

Earlier in the day, Sergei Gavrilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations (KPRF faction), said that you can get a cottage or a plot of land in Russia for free, RT reports.

According to him, such lands are often provided within the framework of current legislation or regional programs that support individual social and professional groups. For example, a plot can be given to a family with three or more children, subject to certain conditions.

Before that, in April, Nikita Chaplin, a State Duma deputy and chairman of the Union of Summer Residents of the Moscow region, told the Moscow City News agency that heaters, candles and heat guns would help preserve plants during the frost season.
