- China has decided to suspend or cancel non-tariff countermeasures taken against the United States.

The People's Republic of China (PRC) has decided that it will suspend or cancel non-tariff countermeasures that were taken against the United States from April 2, 2025. This was reported by Xinhua on May 12.
As a result of recent negotiations between the two countries, it was decided to develop relevant work to continue cooperation. Both sides commit to implement a number of measures by May 14, 2025.
For example, the United States plans to change additional customs duties on Chinese goods and cancel additional duties.
"China will also take the necessary measures to suspend or cancel non—tariff countermeasures against the United States from April 2, 2025," a joint statement from China and the United States said.
In addition, the United States and China agreed to suspend the customs tariff of 24 percentage points for 90 days, while maintaining the 10 percent tariff.
After the implementation of the measures discussed between the countries, the parties will continue negotiations on trade and economic relations. Also, if necessary, States can hold working consultations related to economic and trade issues.
On May 11, US President Donald Trump announced a complete reset of US-China relations, which took place in a friendly and productive manner. Trump praised the negotiations with China, calling them very good, and noted that he wants to see the result of the concluded "pleasant" agreements, as they will act for the benefit of the United States and China.
