India eliminated more than 100 militants during Operation Sindur
More than 100 militants were eliminated during Operation Sindoor launched by India. This was announced on May 11 by the Director General of Military Operations of India, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai.
"These strikes (by the Indian army. Attacks on nine terrorist centers resulted in the deaths of more than 100 terrorists, including Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudasir Ahmed, who were involved in the hijacking. – Ed.) IC814 and the Pulwama explosion," he said, quoted by The Economic Times newspaper.
According to Ghai, the army hit nine centers of terrorist activity, and among those eliminated were individuals involved in major terrorist attacks in recent years.
The terrorist attack in Pulwama in February 2019 occurred when a suicide bomber from the banned Jaysh-i-Mohammed group sent a car with explosives into a convoy of Indian security forces. In response, the Indian Air Force attacked targets in Balakot, located in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a few days later.
Indian Airlines flight IC 814 was hijacked on December 24, 1999, when five armed militants took control of an Airbus A300 aircraft flying from Kathmandu to Delhi with 191 people on board.
Against the background of the aggravation of the situation, Ghai also confirmed the losses among the Pakistani military.
"The Pakistani army reported losses of 35 to 40 people between May 7 and May 10," he said.
Pakistan and India agreed on a ceasefire on May 10. US President Donald Trump noted that this happened with the mediation of the United States.
Relations between Pakistan and India have been strained since the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. 27 civilians were killed. On May 7, the Indian Ministry of Defense announced the start of the Sindoor military operation against Pakistan. According to the Pakistani Samaa TV channel, Islamabad launched retaliatory missile strikes on Indian territory.
