The administration of US President Donald Trump has spent over $1 billion on carrying out massive strikes against targets controlled by the Yemeni Houthis of the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen. This was reported on May 8 by the American television channel NBC News, citing sources from the White House.

"President Donald Trump's fight against the Houthis has never dealt a crushing blow to the militant group, but since March of this year it has cost America more than $1 billion," the publication says.

The source clarified that hundreds of bombs were involved in the strikes themselves, the average cost of each of which reached $ 85 thousand, and missiles, each of which cost about $ 1.9 million. In addition, seven drones and two fighter jets were allocated to fight the Houthis. It is noted that all the listed equipment was damaged or destroyed.

Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi said on May 6 that the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in Yemen and the United States, through the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman, had agreed to a cease-fire and any attacks on each other. This commitment includes a ban on Ansar Allah attacks on American vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
