- The United States expressed concerns about the escalation of the conflict between India and Pakistan.

The US administration regards the situation caused by the aggravation of relations between India and Pakistan as very dangerous. This statement was made on May 8 by the head of the press service of the US Department of State, Tammy Bruce.
"There should have been no escalation, and communication remains the key, there should be negotiations, there should be no silence.… In this particular case, of course, the situation is very delicate and dangerous," the politician said at a briefing, the recording of which was posted on the official YouTube channel of the department.
Bruce stressed that military actions used to resolve such issues never end, so it is important to prevent them by stopping the violence. She noted that the United States calls on representatives of India and Pakistan to resolve the current situation through diplomatic negotiations.
Relations between Pakistan and India have been strained since the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. As a result of the incident, 27 civilians were killed. On May 7, the Indian Ministry of Defense announced the start of the Sindoor military operation against Pakistan. According to the Pakistani Samaa TV channel, Islamabad launched retaliatory missile strikes on Indian territory.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted that Russia is making efforts to prevent an escalation of the conflict between India and Pakistan. On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia was calling on both sides to exercise restraint and move to the negotiating table as soon as possible.
