Hungary, during an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) states, will not support the association's proposal to provide military assistance to Ukraine. This was announced on May 7 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"In Warsaw, I will present what we have been talking about for three years: the Hungarian people will not pay for this (Ukrainian) conflict," Szijjarto said in a message on the social network X (former. Twitter).

According to him, the EU countries are demanding "more money and weapons" for Ukraine, but this is a blow to Hungary's energy security.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the same day, criticizing the statement of the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen because of her call to speed up the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU), drew attention to the fact that Ukraine is provided with money and weapons, while European taxpayers pay the bills.
