A court has sentenced a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VFU) to 17 years in prison for using weapons against civilians in the village of Olgovka, Kursk region. This was announced on May 6 by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (IC RF).
"The evidence collected by the military investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia has been recognized by the court as sufficient to sentence Lev Kyrov, a soldier of the 17th separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Telegram channel says.
The investigation found that in November 2024, Kyrov, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle, illegally entered the territory of Russia. It is specified that in the village of Olgovka in the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region, Kyrov mined roads and prevented the evacuation of civilians, threatening them with weapons.
According to the press service of the department, the attacker was found guilty of committing a terrorist act (paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court imposed a 17—year prison sentence with the first five years in prison, and the rest of the sentence in a high-security penal colony.
Earlier, on May 5, a VFU militant was convicted of mining roads and obstructing the evacuation of civilians in the Kursk region. It was reported that the soldier held observation and firing positions in the village of Apanasovka in the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region and threatened the local population.
