The doctor gave advice on weight loss during the May holidays

The May holidays are traditionally accompanied by feasts with lots of fatty dishes and alcoholic beverages. If you don't control portions, it's easy to feel overeating and notice new pounds. Yulia Sidorova, an endocrinologist and founder of the Seeds School of Nutrition and Hormonal Health, told Izvestia on May 8 how to avoid this and minimize the consequences of the holidays.
According to the expert, it is better not to come to the feast hungry. It is better to stick to your usual routine and eat a balanced diet every three to four hours throughout the day. Then the level of hunger for the festive table will not be high, it will help to avoid overeating. It is also important to take food based on the feeling of hunger.
To avoid overeating, you should add more vegetables to your diet.
"Fill half of your plate with various colorful fruits, vegetables or herbs and start your meal with them. This will increase the nutritional value of your food, help you feel full quickly, and reduce the number of calories you consume. Fiber will be a good safety cushion against overeating," she said.
According to her, if you plan to drink alcohol, it is important to remember that there is no safe dose, even a small amount significantly reduces the level of awareness, increases appetite, which, in turn, increases the risk of overeating. It is important to alternate each alcoholic drink with a glass of water, this will help to avoid dehydration, and so you will not drink too much.
In addition, the doctor recommends that moderate physical activity be included during the May holidays, such as an evening walk or morning warm-up.
Earlier, on April 24, Janeta Borlakova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Russian Railways-Medicine family clinic, told Izvestia about the acceptable portion of barbecue for the May holidays. According to her, 100-150 grams is enough to enjoy the taste without feeling heavy in the stomach. The expert also recommends adding fresh vegetables and herbs to the table, as well as grilled vegetables — they go well with meat and reduce the burden on the digestive system.
