How much does a barbecue set cost?

This April, the cost of a barbecue set amounted to 3.5 thousand rubles, the analytical center "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD" told Izvestia. This amount includes the purchase of ready-made meat for frying (weight is not specified), a set of skewers, a barbecue, charcoal and an ignition.

The average receipt was 8% higher than last year's. Skewers have risen in price most noticeably — by 15%, as well as meat — by 14% (spending on it accounts for about a quarter of the cost of a set).

The warm weather in early spring contributed to an increase in demand for barbecue products — in March it was 30-35% higher than last year's level, analysts said.

One serving of pork neck, along with spices and marinade, will cost Russians 243 rubles, said Olga Matveeva, financial consultant at X5's Package service. This amount includes 200 grams of pork neck, onions, barbecue seasoning and lemon at the prices of the Pyaterochka retail chain.

The Fix Price chain of stores noted that sales of charcoal, skewers and ignition liquids increased by an average of 40%, and disposable tableware — by 23%.

Also in the pre-holiday period, the chain notes an increase in sales of ketchup and other sauces.

How much is spent online

Online platforms also record an increase in demand for meat for kebabs. By the May holidays, sales are expected to increase by 30% compared to March-April, Ozon fresh reported. They confirmed that the most popular types of meat for kebabs among Russians are pork and chicken.

The most noticeable rise in price was chicken kebab, First Data calculated (they analyzed online sales). The price per kilogram of chicken kebab increased by 44% to 400 rubles. The cost of a kilogram of beef increased by 17% (to 1,193 rubles). Pork shish kebab went up by 7% (to 441 rubles), and turkey — by 4% (to 523 rubles).

Russians are also actively purchasing skewers and barbecues online. For example, skewers and barbecues have become the most popular products on Wildberries.

To maintain health and well-being on vacation, it is important to maintain a balanced diet, doctors reminded Izvestia. Shish kebab is a potential source of carcinogens, said Anastasia Sivakova, biologist, junior geneticist, specialist in the development department of MyGenetics.

For cooking shish kebab, it is advisable to give preference to low-fat meats such as chicken or turkey, added Janeta Borlakova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the RZD-Medicine Family Clinic. She also called for portion size control.
