There is a very tense situation between India and Pakistan due to the risk of escalation. This was announced on May 5 by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad.

"The situation on the ground is very tense. There is a risk of a serious escalation between India and Pakistan," the diplomat said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Ahmad believes that this situation is the fault of New Delhi. In addition, he stressed that international communities need to make efforts to avoid a conflict that "will not serve anyone's interests."

Earlier in the day, the PTI news agency reported gunfire in eight forward sectors along the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani troops opened fire.

In addition, on May 4, Islamabad requested a meeting of the UN Security Council (SC) amid rising tensions with New Delhi. It was clarified that his date is still unknown.
