A very heavy load falls on the digestive system during the festive feasts, this is due both to overeating in general and to various combinations of foods. Allergist and immunologist Ulyana Chemova told about this on Monday, May 5.

The doctor warned that some combinations of products have an aggressive effect on the intestinal mucosa and the enzyme system. People with chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), suffering from diabetes mellitus, as well as those with allergic diseases should be especially careful, she said.

"Excessive consumption of foods rich in carbohydrates leads to fermentation processes in the intestines and bloating, abdominal pain. Such foods include fruits, especially bananas, dates, grapes, as well as legumes, cabbage, kvass, yeast pastries, and others. With the abundant consumption of red meats and their derivatives, for example, sausages, putrefaction processes occur in the intestines," the expert said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The specialist added that substances that are formed during the breakdown of proteins cause intoxication of the body.

Chemova recommended avoiding eating large amounts of foods with excess fats. These include fatty meat, fatty salted fish, cheeses, nuts, sausages, cakes and desserts with greasy cream — this creates additional stress on the liver, gallbladder and pancreas, leading to abdominal pain, belching, bloating, frequent loose stools.

In turn, geriatrician, internist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of Russia Yuri Serebryansky said in an interview with Moscow 24 that a number of products can have a negative impact on the joints of the elderly. Among them are red meat, legumes, black tea and coffee, RT reports.

The day before, Mariana Jutova, a dietitian at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), told Izvestia that severe dietary restrictions can lead to serious disruptions in the body, rather than the desired slimness. Thus, eliminating carbohydrates deprives the body of its main source of energy, which is manifested by weakness, irritability, and even problems with the cardiovascular system and kidneys.

On May 1, Inna Pichugina, chief nutritionist at the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region, told how to eat shish kebab properly so as not to harm your health. According to her, the rate of meat consumption depends on gender and age: for men, it is up to 180 grams per day, for women — up to 150 grams. 360.ru .

She added that the combination of barbecue and alcohol can provoke health problems, the Moscow City News agency reports.

Earlier, on April 24, Janeta Borlakova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Russian Railways-Medicine family clinic, told Izvestia how much barbecue it is permissible to eat in one day. She noted that it is better to give preference to low-fat meats such as chicken or turkey for cooking shish kebab, the doctor noted. And the serving size should not exceed 100-150 g — this is enough to enjoy the taste without feeling heavy in the stomach.
