In Russia, it was proposed to introduce a single color scheme for carsharing vehicles of all companies and services. A corresponding appeal has been prepared addressed to the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit, RT reports on May 5.

The author of the initiative is Mikhail Vetrov, deputy of the Saint Petersburg municipality of Shushary, chairman of the Association of Manufacturers of Children's Goods, Works and Services.

A single color scheme for carsharing vehicles is needed to signal such vehicles on the road. As the author of the appeal noted, such rental cars pose an increased danger on the roads, since their drivers can be expected to make risky maneuvers, mistakes and provoke emergency situations.

Vetrov also suggested exploring the possibility of raising the minimum age limit for access to driving a carsharing machine from 18 to 20 years old and setting a minimum threshold for at least two years of driving experience. The availability of car rental services makes it popular among young people who do not have sufficient management experience, the source said.

On March 4, it was reported that the State Duma proposed restricting access to carsharing services to people under the age of 21, as well as installing alcohol pumps and a speed limit of up to 120 km/h in carsharing vehicles. Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy (LDPR), addressed the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation with such an initiative.

On February 27, it became known that in 2024, the Volkswagen Polo, Kia Rio X-Line and Jetta VS5 became the most popular carsharing cars in the Economy category. In the Comfort category over the same period, Haval Jolion, Geely Coolray and Chery Tiggo 4 are the leaders, while in Business and Premium, Russian drivers most often chose Toyota Camry, Exeed RX and Geely Monjaro.
