- The Iranian Foreign Ministry called Trump's words about the elimination of the nuclear program destructive.

US President Donald Trump's statements on the complete elimination of Iran's nuclear program are destructive and also create a barrier to concluding a deal. This was reported on May 5 by the TV channel with reference to SNN, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Ismail Bagai.
"Such statements from the US leadership are destructive and only hinder the conclusion of a deal. Iran has always been a proponent of a diplomatic approach and insists on continuing negotiations on the deal," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The day before, in an interview with NBC News, Trump said that during the negotiations, Washington would seek the complete elimination of the Iranian nuclear program. According to him, this is the purpose of the negotiations between the parties.
On April 26, Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Bin Hamad al Busaidi announced the common desire of the United States and Iran to reach an agreement based on mutual respect and long-term commitments. It was clarified that at the indirect talks, the parties also discussed the possibility of lifting sanctions against Iran, subject to compliance with a number of requirements related to the nuclear program.
