The European Union (EU) has denied Britain access to databases on crime and illegal migration. This was reported on May 4 by the British newspaper The Times.

We are talking about a closed database, the Schengen Information System (SIS), aimed at ensuring security at the borders of the European Union.

"The EU rejects the UK's request to use databases on crime and illegal migration. This move deals a blow to Downing Street's attempts to improve security ties with Europe," the publication says.

It is clarified that Brussels has told the British side that it is impossible to share the fingerprints of illegal migrants with the police and immigration officials in the UK.

Earlier, on March 22, a survey published by The Telegraph showed that among Ukrainians who received refugee status in the UK, 41% could not find work due to uncertainty after the expiration of three-year visas. Another 22% lost their jobs for the same reason.
