In addition, India announced a strict ban on the import and transit of any goods from Pakistan as part of measures to protect "national security."

"The direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, regardless of whether they can be freely imported or otherwise permitted, should be immediately prohibited until further notice. This restriction was introduced in the interests of national security and public policy," the Indian authorities said in a statement.
