Two people died in a fire at a cottage in the Pskov region.


The fire occurred at a cottage in the village of Kuzmino, Pskov region, and two people died as a result of the incident. This was announced on May 2 by the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
"On May 1, 2025, law enforcement agencies received a message about the discovery of bodies of a man and a woman with traces of exposure to high temperatures at the scene of a fire in a private residential building in the village of Kuzmino in the Usvyatsky district of the Pskov region," the department's Telegram channel said.
According to the SU IC, the cause of the fire could be a malfunction of an electrical appliance. Medical and fire-technical examinations are currently underway to establish the details of the incident.
The department recalled the importance of observing fire safety rules and checking the serviceability of electrical wiring and appliances. Attention is also focused on the need to monitor children in residential areas and conduct conversations with them about safety rules and actions in case of fire.
On the same day, a fire broke out in a partially resettled apartment building in Primorye, in which a pensioner died. The fire was extinguished on an area of 300 sq. m. Upon the arrival of firefighters, the roof of the house and two apartments were on fire. All the circumstances of the incident are being established. An inspection is underway.
