Israel has attacked targets near the presidential palace in Damascus, Syria. This was announced on May 2 by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"This is a clear signal to the Syrian regime. We will not allow the deployment of forces south of Damascus and any threat to the Druze community," Ynet quoted him as saying.

It is specified that the attack was carried out on a plot of land on the territory of the presidential palace.

On April 30, a member of the Syrian security forces was killed in an Israeli drone strike on the village of Sahnaya in Damascus province. In total, 13 people were killed as a result of the Israeli attack on the village of Sahnaya in the suburbs of Damascus.

Earlier, on March 30, interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced the formation of a new government of "creation and change" in the country. He said that a new chapter had begun in the country's history, and assured that he would not allow corruption to infiltrate any state institutions.
