The fourth round of negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear issue, scheduled for May 3, will be postponed at the suggestion of the Omani mediators. This was announced on May 1 by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a change in the time of the next round of indirect Iranian-American talks, which were to be held in Rome on Saturday, May 3. <...> A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the negotiations were postponed at the suggestion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman," the department's Telegram channel said.

The head of the Omani Foreign Ministry, Badr al-Busaidi, wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter) that the postponement of negotiations is due to logistical problems. A new date for the meeting will be announced after approval, he added.

A new round of talks between Washington and Tehran mediated by Oman in Rome on April 30 was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi. In addition, before the talks, the Iranian delegation was scheduled to meet with the Eurotroika, which includes Germany, Great Britain, and France.

The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended on April 12. The second stage took place on April 19. The Iranian delegation was led by Araqchi, and the United States was represented by the President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

On April 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Moscow could become a mediator in negotiations between Washington and Tehran. He stated that the Islamic Republic is ready to make common decisions within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
