Iran condemns the introduction of a new package of sanctions by the United States

Tehran condemned the introduction of a new package of sanctions by the United States and several other Western countries against Iran. This was reported on May 1 in the Telegram channel of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
"The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. [Ismail] Bagai expressed serious condemnation of the new American sanctions against both individuals and legal entities in Iran and against a number of participants in other countries that interact with the Islamic Republic in various economic and trade spheres," the message says.
According to the representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the US sanctions violate the basic principles and norms of international law. Bagai noted that Tehran will resist economic pressure from Washington.
On April 12, the delegations of Iran and the United States held the first round of talks in Muscat, the meeting focused on the Iranian nuclear program and American sanctions.
Later, on April 16, it was reported that Washington, shortly before the start of the second round of indirect negotiations on the nuclear dossier with Tehran, expanded the list of sanctions against Iran's allegedly shadowy Iranian navy. Thus, seven legal entities and five oil transportation vessels were added to the restrictions section, four of which operate under Panamanian flags and one under Cameroonian.
