The growth of the Russian IT industry amounted to almost 28%, and its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) increased several times. This was announced on April 29 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a strategic session on heavy-duty industrial software.

"Our IT industry is showing good results. Over the past five years, its cumulative average annual growth rate has been almost 28%, and its contribution to GDP has almost doubled over this period. The demand for domestic corporate solutions has doubled or tripled," he said.

According to the Prime Minister, a domestic software product is necessary for enterprises to operate steadily and successfully, increase efficiency, develop capacities, and scale their products. In addition, it is necessary to achieve the "digital maturity" of the Russian economy.

Mishustin noted that despite the sanctions pressure on Russia, by the time the restrictions were imposed, the country already had its own technologies and developments, which are currently widely used.

The Head of government added that there is a transition to domestic software in all segments: from operating systems and user applications to complex multi-level corporate production and lifecycle management systems.

Earlier, on April 20, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Russia occupies a leading global position in digitalization, despite numerous hacks of equipment and sanctions pressure from unfriendly countries. He noted that programs to replace foreign information and communication technologies are showing results.
