More than 87% of the electricity supply capacity has been restored in the Iberian Peninsula. This was announced on April 29 by the operator of the Spanish electric grid Red Eléctrica on the social network X (Ex. Twitter).

"87.37% of demand on the peninsula has been restored," the statement said.

It is also specified that by now 100% of the substations of the transmission network are energized. Specialists continue to work on eliminating the consequences of the blackout.

Large-scale power outages in Spain and Portugal became known earlier in the day. It was clarified that this affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communication in some parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. Later, Spanish and Portuguese media reported that specialists had already begun work on restoring power supply.

Later, Spanish political scientist Santiago Armesilla reported a partial resumption of electricity supply in Spain. Madrid residents have been without electricity for more than five hours. In other regions, the duration of outages ranged from three to five hours.
