Escalation between India and Pakistan is possible, given the rhetoric from New Delhi. This was announced on Tuesday, April 29, by Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif.

"There is a possibility of increased tension now. The Indian media, politicians and the prime minister are creating an opportunity to denigrate Pakistan or are trying to use recent events (the terrorist attack in Kashmir — Ed.) to denigrate the state without any evidence or evidence," Asif said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He stressed that Pakistan has no intentions of aggravating the situation between the two countries. However, according to him, if India makes an attempt to attack, it will "meet with a more than proportional response."

"India and Pakistan are both nuclear powers, but I don't think it will go that far. Let's not jump to conclusions that may seem a bit far—fetched," he added.

Earlier, on April 27, it was reported that the Indian Navy conducted test launches of anti-ship missiles. The tests took place against the background of the aggravation of the situation between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 27 civilians.

In connection with the terrorist attack, on April 25, the Indian Foreign Ministry suspended the 1960 Indus River Treaty and stopped supplying water from its stream to Pakistan. At the same time, the Indian authorities announced the suspension of the issuance of visas for Pakistani citizens.
