The doctor warned about the pathologies associated with dizziness

Many people believe that dizziness is associated with disorders in the cardiovascular system, such as fluctuations in blood pressure. However, the reasons may be different. Elena Kislova, a neurologist at the Medscan Hadassah clinic, told Gazeta about this on Tuesday, April 29.Ru».
As the expert pointed out, dizziness does not always indicate a disease. It can occur after prolonged riding on a carousel or other attractions, as well as after drinking alcohol — dizziness in such cases is considered normal and does not require treatment, the doctor explained.
However, Kislova warned that dizziness is often a symptom of pathology. So, special vigilance should be caused not by isolated cases, but by regularly recurring seizures.
The neurologist said that one of the most common causes of short-term vertigo is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPH). It occurs due to the displacement of calcium deposits in the vestibular analyzer, the organ responsible for balance. Symptoms include short-term bouts of rotational vertigo when the head position changes. Treatment involves performing special exercises — repositional maneuvers, after which the symptoms disappear. Relapses may be associated with impaired phosphorus-calcium metabolism, the doctor noted.
Another common cause of vertigo is persistent postural perceptual vertigo (PPD), in which there is a feeling of instability or non—rotational dizziness. Kislova clarified that the diagnosis is made when the symptoms persist for at least 15 days for three months or more.
"Other causes include Meniere's disease and neurological pathologies. Heart problems should also not be ruled out, as they often turn out to be the "culprits" of dizziness," the source told the publication.
She also urged to consult a doctor for dizziness, it does not matter if they are accompanied by loss of consciousness. Kislova noted that urgent medical attention is required if this condition is accompanied by severe headache, impaired coordination, speech problems, double vision or loss of vision. Such symptoms require immediate intervention.
Earlier, on April 27, Olga Shuppo, founder and scientific director of the Grand Clinic network of immunorehabilitation, adaptive and preventive medicine clinics, told Izvestia that many seasonal diseases worsen in the spring, and one of them is cough. It can be painful, and if treated incorrectly, it can lead to pneumonia, an inflammation of the lung tissue. Acute fever, chills, chest pain associated with breathing or coughing — these symptoms are characteristic of pneumonia, so if they occur, you should immediately consult a doctor, the expert said.
