Electricity will be fully restored in Spain on Tuesday, April 29. Currently, up to 97% of electricity supply has been restored in some parts of the country, while in others this figure does not even reach 15%. This was announced on Monday, April 28, by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

"We are working with a clear goal: by tomorrow, the power supply to the entire territory will be restored," he said, the broadcast was posted on the YouTube channel elDiarioes.

However, the Spanish Prime minister added that the government is taking the necessary measures for municipalities where restoring electricity is likely to take longer.

"The situation in the country is extremely asymmetrical. Some autonomous communities have already restored up to 97% of their electricity supply, while others, unfortunately, are below 15%," Sanchez added.

He clarified that at the moment, the relevant structures are doing everything possible to provide electricity as soon as possible and work will continue even at night.

According to the Spanish prime minister, 11 trains are still in hard-to-reach areas waiting for help.

According to the minister, the causes of the incident are being investigated and all possible options will be considered during the investigation.

To enhance security at night, the authorities deployed additional forces, including police and guards, Sanchez said.

Large-scale power outages in Spain and Portugal became known earlier in the day. It was clarified that this affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communication in some parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. Joao Faria Conceicao, director of the local electricity grid operator Ren, said that a full restoration of electricity in Portugal is planned for tomorrow.

At the same time, Spanish political scientist Santiago Armesilla, in an interview with Izvestia, reported that the consequences of a large-scale power outage in Spain were beginning to be gradually eliminated.
