The Norwegian Air Force has received at least 52 F-35 fighter jets ordered from the American defense company Lockheed Martin. This was announced on Monday, April 28, by the Norwegian TV channel TV2.
The deal was originally scheduled to be completed in 2024, but it was postponed due to supply problems, the TV channel said.
The Air Force also received the first Joint Strike Missile from Defense Materiel. This is a Norwegian-designed rocket launched from the air.
According to the Chief of the General Staff of the US Armed Forces, Eirik Kristoffersen, currently there are a total of 135 aircraft at the disposal of the Nordic countries.
Prior to that, in November 2024, the press service of the US Department of Defense reported that the Pentagon had signed contracts with large defense companies for military production and supply of weapons worth more than $ 1.3 billion. It was reported that Lockheed Martin received the largest contract for a total of $869.9 million for the production of F-35 Lot 20 fighters.
