Portugal reported the restoration of electricity by midnight
Full restoration of electricity in Portugal is planned for tomorrow. This was announced on Monday, April 28, by Joao Faria Conceisau, director of the local electricity grid operator Ren.
"I hope that tonight we will be able to fully balance the system. <...> The country will wake up tomorrow (Tuesday — Ed.) with electricity," Portuguese newspaper Diário de Notícias quoted him as saying.
Faria Conceicau clarified that the causes of the incident are still unknown.
Large-scale power outages in Spain and Portugal became known earlier in the day. It was clarified that this affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communication in some parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. Later, local media reported that specialists had already begun work on restoring power supply.
At the same time, Spanish political scientist Santiago Armesilla, in an interview with Izvestia, reported that the consequences of a large-scale power outage in Spain were beginning to be gradually eliminated.
