Festive content: new REN series presented in Moscow
In the GUM Showroom, the guests were gathered for an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. The REN TV series "SMERSH 3" and "Operation Carpathians 2" were presented as part of the event. Another new project, "On the Trail of the Beast," also premiered. Izvestia was among the first viewers and talked to the creators.
From generation to generation
For the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, Wink, REN TV, NMG Studio, START and Fora Cinema have prepared several series. The audience is waiting for the continuation of their favorite hits "SMERSH" and "Operation Carpathians". This means that there will be favorite characters and an intriguing plot, thanks to which action games have been collecting a good rating for years. Another project with a fascinating plot and great casting, "On the Trail of the Beast," also has a chance to develop and keep the attention of fans of the military drama for more than one season.
Actor Vladislav Kotlyarsky, who played one of the main roles in the TV series "SMERSH 3" — senior state security lieutenant Pavel Romanovich Semenov — came to the presentation with his whole family. He was accompanied by his wife Victoria and three daughters. As it turned out, all of them are directly related to the film.

— Using my official position, I attracted everyone to the cinema, — Vladislav Kotlyarsky told Izvestia. — One of the novels of SMERSH 3 is called "Moscow. The year is 1944." And coincidentally, my mother and her two younger sisters were seven, five, and one years old in 1944. Exactly the same age as my daughters were at the time of filming. My mother's family lived then on Gorky Street, now Tverskaya. And in our series, my family's storyline appears. My eldest daughter Elina played my mother, and the younger Nicole and Ariana played my aunts.
The actor's great-grandfather was a military pilot, squadron commander. On his grandmother's birthday, he flew off on a mission and never returned. He went missing. This is also described in SMERSH 3.
"My mom and grandma, when they watched the movie Torpedo Bombers, they always cried," the actor admits. — The film literally shows their lives, and just like my great-grandfather, the hero of this picture died. And every time my children and I come to visit my mother now, she accompanies us, singing "Farewell Slavyanka."
The plot of the new, third installment of the popular SMERSH franchise centers on two captains of Soviet counterintelligence ("Death to Spies!") Konstantin Lavrov (Igor Petrenko) and Pavel Semenov (Vladislav Kotlyarsky). The series also starred Yuri Anpilogov, Leonid Gromov, Anastasia Mikulchina, Sergey Ivanyuk, Sergey Komarov, Polina Dolindo, Maxim Dromashko, Elizaveta Nilova. Filming of the series took place in Moscow, Moscow region and Kostroma. The actors had to shoot, go hand-to-hand, drown in swamps, explode. According to Vladislav Kotlyarsky, the third season of SMERSH will have 16 episodes, not 12, as in the previous season. There are rumors that there will be enough stories for the fourth part.
"Judging by the viewing figures, two well—known franchises, SMERSH and Operation Carpathians, are very popular with the audience, and in the future we are waiting for the numbers of screenings on the friendly channel REN TV, which will surely be even higher," said Alexander Kosarim, content director of the online cinema Wink. — And our third very big project "On the trail of the Beast", we hope, will also find a response in the hearts of the audience.
The stellar cast
According to Anatoly Tupitsyn, Deputy General Director of REN TV, the channel has become one of the main producers of military adventure films over the past few years. As he noted, the ideological inspiration of this genre is REN TV CEO Vladimir Tyulin.
— The theme of the Great Patriotic War and the heroism of the Soviet people find a great response in the souls of our viewers. We are looking for new stories and perspectives to tell about the people who brought Victory closer, because today it is more important than ever to preserve this story and pass it on to the younger generation," said Tupitsyn.

He also thanked the Institute for the Development of the Internet (IRI), the Zvezda TV channel and its head Alexei Pimanov for fruitful cooperation.
The creators defined the genre of the series "Operation Carpathians 2" as a military historical detective. Mikhail Agranovich, a legend of Russian cinema, was invited to direct the project. On the set of the series, he stood behind the camera and watched what was happening on the set from the director's chair. As Mikhail Agranovich admitted, it was his first time working in such a genre. In the sequel to the series "Operation Carpathians," the characters are at war with foreign intelligence, which actively finances gangs in Western Ukraine.
— This time, our rates have increased: British intelligence has given its henchmen the task to steal 200 kg of gold, which the USSR planned to spend on the purchase of unique grain, — said Tim Shevtsov, producer of the series. — The decoration of the project is Maria Lisova and Alexander Loye. This year, the cast has been replenished with three stars.: These are Evgeny Sidikhin, Gela Meskhi, Ivan Oganesyan.
The sequel to "Operation Carpathians" was filmed jointly with NMG Studio. And as the producer says, their responsibility has increased.

"In our opinion, it is important that viewers not only watch Soviet films about the Great Patriotic War, but also see stories about how our country defeated fascism with modern actors," Dmitry Tabarchuk, General Director of NMG Studios, shared with Izvestia. — Of course, the special intonation of the Belorussky Railway Station cannot be reproduced. But through films starring youth idols, there is a greater connection to historical material.
REN will show the premiere of "Operation Karpaty 2" on May 4. The action-packed detective series "SMERSH 3" will air on May 8.
