A criminal case has been opened in Dagestan on safety violations due to the death of a woman as a result of a boat capsizing in the Sulak Canyon in Dagestan. This was reported on April 28 on the website of the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

It is noted that during an excursion in the waters of the Sulak River, a ship with tourists on board capsized, all passengers ended up in the water. According to preliminary data, a woman was killed, and seven other passengers received various injuries.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic safety rules and operation of marine and inland waterway transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence")," the message says.

Various examinations are currently being conducted, and all the circumstances of the incident are being established.

The fact that the boat capsized in the Sulak Canyon due to a collision with a rock became known on the same day. It was noted that there were eight people on board.
