On April 28, Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro expressed the opinion that he expects the problems with the power grid to be resolved by the end of this day. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 28.

In addition, the Portuguese prime minister clarified that there was "no indication" that a cyberattack was the cause of the massive power outage.

A large-scale power outage in Spain and Portugal was reported earlier in the day by Bloomberg. It was clarified that this affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communication in some parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. The government representative clarified that the Canary and Balearic Islands of Spain were able to avoid power outages.

Later, Spanish and Portuguese media reported that specialists had already begun work on restoring power supply. According to the portal Portugal Resident, the outages were caused by "a problem in the European electricity grid that affected the national grid."
