Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko met with Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar, where they discussed the Indo-Pakistani escalation. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 28.
"The parties discussed <...> the general situation in the South Asian region, including the escalation of tension between New Delhi and Islamabad in connection with the terrorist attack near the city of Pahalgam in Kashmir," the statement said.
The ministry noted that the Russian side is ready to help counter global terrorism.
In India, near the city of Pahalgam, a terrorist attack took place on April 22, which killed 27 civilians. The Resistance Front, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in India, claimed responsibility for the incident.
In connection with the terrorist attack, on April 25, the Indian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the decision to suspend the 1960 Indus River Treaty and cut off the supply of water from its stream to Pakistan. At the same time, the Indian authorities announced the suspension of the issuance of visas for Pakistani citizens.
