The Head of the Migration Department and the head of the Immigration Control Department of the Penza Region Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been arrested on suspicion of bribery. This was announced on April 28 by the regional directorate of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.
"It has been established that the defendants received monetary rewards from individual entrepreneurs for assisting in the legalization of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation, including those who committed violations of migration legislation," the press service of the regional department said.
In addition, UVM employees also received bribes for their general patronage of migrants, which was manifested in the fact that the defendants informed foreigners about the places where checks on compliance with migration legislation were planned.
Employees of the FSB and the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Penza region stopped and documented the illegal activities of two defendants, and a criminal case was opened under Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe"). Two heads of the Department of Internal Affairs of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs have been arrested, operational search measures and investigative actions are being carried out, which are necessary to identify additional episodes of the crime and clarify its circumstances.
The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk, announced on April 8 that the illegal migration channel had been stopped in St. Petersburg, and 15 suspects had been detained. Volk said that two townspeople were looking for foreigners who would like to be legalized in Russia, and offered them to enter into a fictitious marriage with Russian citizens, which allowed migrants to illegally obtain the right to stay or a residence permit. The attackers demanded a fee of 200 thousand rubles for their services.
