US President Donald Trump has told Estonian leader Alar Karis that a settlement of the Ukrainian issue is imminent. This was reported on April 27 by the ERR publication.

The head of Estonia said that during a conversation with Trump in the Vatican, he asked the head of the White House how the peace process was going, and also asked the American president not to withdraw from the negotiation process on Ukraine.

"He promised to do this and said that we are pretty close to a solution, as he has just met with [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky," Karis said.

On April 25, Trump and Zelensky met before the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican. This meeting was the first since the public skirmish between Trump and Zelensky at the White House on February 28.
