The majority of Americans called the activities of US President Donald Trump chaotic and frightening. This follows from a survey by The New York Times (NYT).

"The turbulent first months of Trump's rule are considered by most voters to be "chaotic" and "frightening" — even by many of those who approve of his work," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, American voters do not believe that Trump understands the problems of their daily lives, which is why they are embittered by his leadership. Thus, the president's approval rating is 42%. This is a historically low figure for the country's leader at the beginning of his term, the newspaper writes.

In addition, 54% of respondents said that Trump "exceeds his authority," including 16% of Republicans and 62% of independent voters.

On April 22, Reuters and Ipsos conducted a poll on the popularity of the American leader. The survey results show that three quarters of Americans believe that US President Donald Trump should not run for a third term.
