Russia and Turkey stressed the need to normalize the situation in Syria and Gaza


Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, and Nuh Yilmaz, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey, noted during consultations in Istanbul that efforts should be made to stabilize the situation in Syria and end the conflict in Gaza. This was announced on April 25 by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"During a thorough discussion of issues of mutual interest in the Middle East, the main focus was on the development of the situation in Syria and in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
In addition, the parties noted that the normalization of the situation in Syria should be based on respect for its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting also emphasized the need for a cease-fire in Gaza to improve the overall situation in the Middle East.
Following the consultations, the parties decided to continue to maintain a political dialogue on Middle East issues.
Earlier, on April 20, the Turkish parliamentary delegation arrived in Moscow for negotiations. During the meeting, the sides discussed regional and global developments.
