Nutritionist warned about the dangers of kebabs on May holidays

Using red meat for kebabs can lead to health problems, therefore it is better to give preference to turkey, chicken and fish. This opinion was expressed by gastroenterologist and nutritionist Nuria Dianova on Friday, April 25.
According to the expert, one plate of May kebabs should contain a quarter of meat, a quarter of carbohydrates and two quarters of vegetables and herbs.
"There is an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, both from red meat itself and from sausages," Dianova said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
The nutritionist explained that when frying meat over an open fire, carcinogenic substances are formed, especially charred parts of the barbecue, which must be cut off and not eaten.
Dianova noted that preference should be given to low-fat varieties, since fatty meat will contain more trans fats.
As for the amount of shish kebab, the optimal amount of meat eaten for health is no more than one skewer, the expert believes. The best side dish for meat can be lightly toasted bread, potatoes and fresh herbs.
Earlier in the day 360.ru He reported that on the eve of the May holidays, the demand for meat, vegetables and soft drinks in Russia increased by 49% compared to the same period last year.
On April 24, Janeta Borlakova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Russian Railways-Medicine family clinic, told Izvestia how much barbecue it is acceptable to eat in one day. She noted that it is better to give preference to low-fat meats such as chicken or turkey for cooking shish kebab, the doctor noted. And the serving size should not exceed 100-150 g — this is enough to enjoy the taste without feeling heavy in the stomach, RT reports.
