The expert shared a way to save money on May kebabs

The smell of a campfire and the aroma of freshly cooked barbecue have long been the hallmark of the May holidays. However, closer to the long weekend, the demand for traditional barbecue cooking paraphernalia is noticeably increasing. Olga Matveeva, financial consultant for X5's Package service, told Izvestia on April 25 how to make a weekend in nature not only delicious, but also profitable.
"To avoid queues, purchase all the necessary ingredients before the rush demand. This is especially true for long-term storage products such as spices, pickled cucumbers, sauces, and juices. All of them are quite capable of preserving their freshness before the picnic even without special storage conditions," the expert pointed out.
According to her, such a reserve will not only save part of the budget, but also allow you to gradually prepare everything you need to leave the city.
Matveeva recommended carefully considering the menu based on the preferences of the guests and their number, because a clear shopping list will help to avoid unnecessary expenses. Shish kebab is the main dish of any picnic, but before choosing meat for it, you should study the preferences and needs of other people. Chicken or turkey is suitable for those who follow a diet, and if there are vegetarians among the guests, then you can include grilled vegetables in the menu. When calculating products for a company, one should rely on the fact that one serving of shish kebab, like salad, is usually about 200 g, and the consumption rate of drinks per person is 1.5 liters.
"Many people are sure that an expensive grill, barbecue or barbecue is simply necessary for an ideal barbecue. But professional chefs know that juicy, but at the same time fried shish kebab can be cooked even in a home oven. If you don't have the opportunity to travel outside the city, but you still want to enjoy the dish, don't rush to buy a bunch of unnecessary equipment," the specialist warned.
She suggested considering a proven method of grilling on a grill.
In addition, she noted that small, disposable, collapsible and budget barbecues are now very common, which will be a godsend for connoisseurs of rural recreation. You can even find them in a supermarket, besides, it is much more convenient to take care of simple equipment, which means that this approach will save both time and finances.
"Modern technologies offer a lot of options to reduce the cost of products. One of these is the use of loyalty programs and cashback services, they refund part of the amount in the form of cashback, which can later be written off, including for the purchase of a barbecue set," she added.
The most affordable option for this dish is the classic pork shish kebab, since it is the pork neck that has the best price-quality ratio. For a successful marinade, you will need a minimum number of ingredients: salt, pepper, onion and lemon juice, you can buy ready-made spices for barbecue and use them. Such a simple set of products will cost 243 rubles per serving and will allow you to enjoy the taste of real homemade barbecue.
Earlier, on April 24, Janeta Borlakova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Russian Railways-Medicine family clinic, told Izvestia how much barbecue it is permissible to eat in one day. She noted that it is better to give preference to low-fat meats such as chicken or turkey for cooking shish kebab, the doctor noted. And the serving size should not exceed 100-150 g — this is enough to enjoy the taste without feeling heavy in the stomach.
