The Moldovan authorities continue to pursue a discriminatory policy against Russians entering the republic, often refusing to visit the country for far-fetched reasons. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation warned about this on April 24, recommending that risks be taken into account when planning trips in this direction.

"The possibilities of providing consular support from the Russian Embassy in Chisinau in such situations are seriously limited, as the Moldovan authorities refuse its staff access to Russian citizens," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The diplomats noted that upon arrival in Chisinau, travelers with Russian passports are often subjected to humiliating searches, which can take several hours. At the same time, during the inspection, Russians, including children, are not provided with basic living conditions: they are not given water and food, and they also deprive them of the opportunity to communicate.

"After that, citizens are often denied entry under far-fetched pretexts or without explanation. Every day, Moldovan authorities ban the entry of several dozen Russian citizens," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted at a briefing earlier in the day that another manifestation of Chisinau's hostile line towards Moscow is the collection of intelligence by an ex-employee of the Moldovan special services in Russia. She added that by their actions, the Moldovan authorities specifically want to sever relations with Russia, as well as complicate the lives of their citizens.
