A coalition of 12 American states has filed lawsuits against the administration of US President Donald Trump demanding that the duties imposed by him be noted. The relevant information was published on April 23 on the website of the press service of the Governor of New York, Katie Hokul.

"Governor Katie Cole and New York Attorney General Letitia James announced today that New York State and a coalition of 11 other states have sued the Trump administration for illegally imposing unprecedented taxes on Americans in the form of duties," the press service said.

It clarifies that the duties imposed by Trump have a negative impact on the country's economy. According to James, the imposed duties may lead to an increase in inflation and unemployment throughout the state.

"President Trump's reckless tariffs have led to skyrocketing prices for consumers and caused economic chaos across the country. New York opposes the largest increase in federal taxes in American history," the press service quoted Hokul as saying.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. Court of Foreign Trade Affairs. In addition to New York, the attorneys general of Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont also joined him.

NBC News reported on April 18 that wealthy residents of the United States increasingly began to open accounts in Swiss banks due to the economic policy of the American leader. It was noted that in this way the Americans are trying to diversify some of their dollar assets and create a "spare airfield" in Europe.
