On April 21, Olga Ulankina, an expert at the Hemotest Laboratory, told Izvestia about self-help methods during geomagnetic disturbances.
As Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonovosti news agency, explained to Izvestia, the magnetic field is now outraged. According to her, people suffering from vegetative-vascular dystonia will feel the influence of magnetic storms more than others. In addition, during this period it will be difficult for those who have problems with blood vessels, heart and blood pressure.
According to Ulankina, magnetic storms can really affect health and provoke an exacerbation of chronic diseases, especially in weather-sensitive people. Changes in the geomagnetic field can affect the cardiovascular and nervous systems. In some people, blood viscosity increases, which increases the risk of thrombosis, in others, vascular tone regulation is disrupted, and blood pressure "jumps". People recovering from a stroke or suffering from migraines often notice an increase in symptoms.
"The mechanism of influence of magnetic storms is not fully understood, but it is assumed that they can affect the production of melatonin and serotonin. This explains the increased irritability, insomnia or, conversely, drowsiness," says the doctor.
The expert explained: to help the body survive this period, it is important to reduce the stress on the nervous and cardiovascular system. She recommends avoiding stress, heavy physical exertion, and overwork. A good effect is provided by observing the daily routine, getting a good night's sleep, light walks in the fresh air, and a contrast shower to train blood vessels.
"It is necessary to limit the use of coffee, alcohol and salty foods — they can exacerbate pressure fluctuations. It is important to drink enough water to maintain normal blood viscosity," the doctor warned.
In addition, it is important for people with chronic diseases to consult a doctor shortly before the period of magnetic storms — they may need to adjust therapy.
Ulankina clarified that it is impossible to completely prevent the effects of magnetic storms, but a healthy lifestyle and reasonable prevention help minimize their impact. If the symptoms are severe and recur regularly, it is worth undergoing a medical examination. The main thing is not to panic and remember that the body is able to adapt to external changes if it is helped, the specialist summarizes.
