French President Emmanuel Macron will visit the UK at the invitation of King Charles III at the end of May. This was reported by The Times on April 20.

"Macron has been invited by the king to visit the country at the end of next month, eight years after taking office. This is the first time he has been granted a state visit," the publication says.

It is specified that Macron's visit will take place several months before the arrival of US President Donald Trump in the UK.

According to the publication, the British government plans to discuss with the French president the strengthening of trade between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom.

On April 16, The Daily Telegraph reported that the Trump administration expects to conclude a trade deal with the UK within three weeks. According to the newspaper, this was preceded by the prediction of US Vice President Jay Dee Vance that Trump would agree to an "excellent" trade agreement with the UK due to "cultural proximity."

Earlier, on April 5, Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed possible measures to respond to the new duties imposed by the United States. Then the French president called on the EU governments to unite to protect "fellow citizens and businesses."
