WP has learned about Europe's plans to invest in the production of weapons in Ukraine

Europe is considering investments in the production of weapons in Ukraine as an alternative to the supply of weapons against the background of the possible termination of military assistance from the United States. This was reported on April 19 by The Washington Post (WP), citing an anonymous European official.
"As the reserves of the [former US President Joe] Biden era are depleted, doubts are growing about whether Europe will be able to fully compensate for the possible shutdown of American aid. <...> More and more countries are considering a model of pouring money into Ukraine's defense industry instead of sending weapons, offering a faster route as Europe's own supplies are drying up after years of supplying weapons to Kiev," the article says.
It is noted that Europe has doubts that it will be able to fully compensate for American aid in the event of Washington's complete refusal of military support.
Earlier, on April 16, it was reported that US President Donald Trump did not want to supply Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defense system, even for money. It was clarified that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, offered Trump to buy anti-aircraft missiles worth $ 50 billion, but the American leader rejected this offer. It was clarified that the money was to be provided by the EU countries from their own funds and frozen Russian assets.
