Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia addressed the faithful with an Easter message. This was reported on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) on April 19.

In his address, the Patriarch emphasized that the Resurrection of Christ is a solid foundation for faith and hope.

"In him lies the transformation and renewal of every human being, the light of eternal life and the source of eternal joy. The resurrection of Christ destroyed the most terrible enemies of the human race — sin and death, destroyed the barrier between God and people and freed us from the power of evil," he is quoted in the publication.

The Patriarch called on the faithful to celebrate Easter, remembering that "the Lord has freed them from the darkness of sin and the shadow of death." He added that everyone who aspires to salvation is given the opportunity to overcome sin and become, according to the words of the Apostle John the Theologian, a beloved child of God.

On the same day, Vitaly Suchkov, head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the capital, said that at least 1.5 million believers were expected to attend services in Moscow on the night of April 19-20.

As for the operation of public transport, the metro and the MCC will be open for entry until 02:00 at night, and some ground modes of metropolitan transport will transport passengers until 03:30.
