A sharp jump in carbohydrates and fats due to Easter treats can negatively affect well-being in the form of heaviness in the stomach and a decrease in energy levels. The body does not have time to process a large number of incoming calories, which can lead to discomfort and fatigue. Elvina Dok, a general practitioner and nutritionist, told Izvestia on April 19 how not to overeat on Easter.

According to her, in order to avoid overeating sweet and fatty foods during Easter, it is necessary to balance the meal according to the "plate method."

"Every day, every main meal — breakfast, lunch, dinner — should include sources of complex carbohydrates. These are buckwheat, bulgur, quinoa, whole—grain pasta, wheat groats, barley groats or oats," the doctor explained.

The second important component of the "plate", according to the expert, is a source of protein, such as meat, poultry, legumes or fish. Also, you should not forget about the sources of healthy fats: cedar, pumpkin or sunflower unrefined oil, but it is important to consume them in moderation.

"When the diet is balanced, there are proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fiber for breakfast, lunch and dinner, after a basic main meal you can safely eat a piece of cake and not worry about your health or figure," added the Doctor.

As the doctor noted, without harm to the figure, you can eat 1-2 slices of cake, 50-70 g per day. However, if there is a lot of icing, greasy cream or chocolate filling on the cake, the doctor recommends reducing the portion to one piece.

"It's better to eat a cake in the morning, immediately after breakfast, or between breakfast and lunch, than at night," the therapist advised.

Earlier, on April 18, analysts of the Moneyplace service shared with Izvestia data on Russians' spending on Easter. Thus, culinary products are in the greatest demand in online markets this year: almost 112 thousand sets of food dyes and over 98 thousand confectionery toppings were purchased in online markets. Baking pans were bought 22 thousand pieces. Baking decor is also in the top (more than 94 thousand purchases) and icing (it was bought over 41 thousand times). Egg stickers are popular (57.7 thousand). In total, Russians spent about 135 million rubles on Easter goods.
