The Easter set of cakes, a dozen eggs and cottage cheese Easter rose in price by 10% year-on-year, according to experts from the analytical resource "Check Index". Traditional treats for the holiday will cost about 1.1 thousand rubles. At the same time, Russians began to buy goods for Easter in advance: demand for them has been growing since mid-March, marketplaces noted. They actively purchase not only baking kits and molds for cakes, but also ready-made flour products. The doctors reminded us to leave the long fast that precedes Easter with caution, without getting carried away with a lot of sweets and flour.

How much will the Easter set cost?

Preparations for Easter, which this year falls on April 20, cost Russians an average of 1.1 thousand rubles — 10% higher than last year, according to data from the analytical resource "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD" (the largest operator of fiscal data in the country). This amount includes a ready-made cake, a dozen eggs, dyes and a cottage cheese Easter.

— Cottage cheese makes the most significant contribution to the growth of expenses. At the same time, eggs have become cheaper," the experts noted.

Easter cottage cheese has risen in price by 14% over the year, to 629 rubles, and half a kilo of cottage cheese — by 19%, to 131 rubles. On average, they spend 225 rubles on a cake, which is 17% higher than last year. But a dozen eggs per year has fallen in price by 4% and costs an average of 130 rubles.

Products for the Easter holiday are mostly purchased offline — in regular stores.

— Online, the average price tag is 80-90% higher, mainly due to the larger packaging volume. In particular, a cake in online orders is purchased for 922 rubles, which is 3.6 times more expensive than offline, the analysts added.

In Pyaterochka stores, products for self—cooking cakes, cottage cheese Easter and a dozen colored eggs will cost 711 rubles, according to analysts at the X5 Package service. Most of all, you will have to spend on cottage cheese Easter - its preparation will cost 411 rubles this year. You will need to spend 136 rubles on painting eggs, and 170 rubles on a cake.

In 2025, logistics costs affected the cost of eggs and dairy products less than a year earlier, said the director of data management at the digital logistics platform Monopoly. At the same time, the holiday surge helped carriers to stabilize profitability, maintaining the tariff at the level of March, the first month in 2025, when the cost of transportation showed positive dynamics.

What else do they buy for the holiday

Russians took care of shopping for everything they needed to celebrate Easter in advance, Izvestia was told in popular marketplaces. High demand for Easter goods has been observed since mid-March and has remained at approximately the same level for four weeks, according to analysts at the combined Wildberries and Russ companies. Sales of such products on the marketplace increased by almost 40% year-on-year two weeks before the holiday.

Baking kits are the most popular — their sales increased 7.7 times year-on-year, and the price increased by about 10%. Sales of dough molds have also increased.

— Among the products used in the preparation and decoration of cakes, decorative toppers, candied fruits, confectionery toppings and glazes showed above-average sales growth. The demand for dried fruits, which are often bought for making cottage cheese Easter, has also increased significantly, the analysts said.

However, sales of ready-made cakes also doubled year on year, while they fell in price by 18%.

On Ozon, the demand for Easter goods increased 3.3 times year-on-year. The most popular items were stickers, cake mixes, decor, dried fruits, food coloring, and baking pans.

— This year, customers purchase not only decor, but also products in advance: a week before Easter, they bought 1.6 times more eggs, cottage cheese, milk and butter than last year. Sales of baking decorations have increased almost 2.5 times," the markteplace press service said.

You can even buy onion husks online, which many people prefer to use for coloring eggs. Russians are buying ready-made Easter cakes and cottage cheese twice as actively this year, the Avito press service has calculated.

— This year, Russian residents are paying more and more attention to the decoration of dishes. Thus, sales of Easter decorations have almost doubled," they added. — In addition, Russians are actively buying dishes for the holiday. Sales of egg stands and cake molds have grown more than one and a half times year on year.

The increased demand for decor was also recorded in the Fix Price network. Before the holiday, they are interested not only in traditional dyes and baking pans, but also in decorative goods. They buy original plates and egg stands, Easter decorations, plaster compositions symbolizing the holiday.

How to avoid overeating at Easter

The withdrawal from the long fast preceding Easter should be gradual, the doctors interviewed by Izvestia reminded. To enjoy Easter dishes without harm to your health and figure, plan the menu in advance and control the portions, recommended Janeta Borlakova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Russian Railways Medicine Family Clinic.

— Cakes are quite high—calorie pastries, they contain a lot of sugar and saturated fats. This is a heavy product for our digestive system, so after observing Lent, you should not eat them in large quantities at once," the doctor emphasized.

She recommended limiting yourself to 150 grams per day. Easter pastries should be especially carefully consumed by people with chronic gastrointestinal diseases, the doctor added. Eggs, she says, can be eaten up to three pieces a day.

— The rest of the time, include more vegetables, fruits, and low-fat proteins in your diet, such as chicken or fish. Drink plenty of water and do not forget about physical activity after meals — this will improve digestion and help avoid overeating,— Janeta Borlakova reminded.

Among the unusual flavors of Easter pastries that Russians would like to try, Russians choose a cake with pistachios and white chocolate, as well as with strawberries or raspberries in chocolate, according to the Avito Services survey. Other flavors of cakes that Russians dream of include mango passion fruit, salted caramel with peanuts, Dubai chocolate, black truffle, lavender and honey.

Easter cakes with unusual additives, such as pistachios and chocolate, dried cranberries, and caramel, are gaining popularity in large cities, according to the OK hypermarket chain. Their share in sales is about 15%, but the demand for such positions continues to grow steadily from year to year.
