The State Duma named ways to save money on train tickets

It is most profitable to buy a train ticket at the start of sales. At the same time, you can also save money by applying for a non-refundable tariff, Sangaji Tarbayev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Development, a member of the New People faction, told Izvestia on April 19.
He noted that for most domestic trains, sales begin 90 days before the date of the trip, including for trains to Kaliningrad. For trains connecting with the countries of the nearest foreign countries, this is 60 days, except for Abkhazia, where the same 90—day rule applies. In 120 days, sales are opened for several unique trains between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
"It is most profitable to buy train tickets at the start of sales. With dynamic pricing, the most expensive options and/or preferential places for people with disabilities remain closer to the departure date. On the eve of the summer season, the most popular and fastest disappearing tickets from sales are to the resort cities of the Black and Azov Seas," Tarbayev explained.
The deputy clarified that for each summer season, the schedule is reviewed, additional trains are assigned, wagons are added or wagons are replaced with double-decker ones on the most popular routes in the south of Russia.
"But in general, it is not uncommon for a necessary ticket to "leave" literally during the registration process. In other areas, the situation is not so tense, so the general rule applies: the closer to the start of sales, the lower the price and the greater the choice of places. Whether to buy a ticket at the box office or through the app doesn't really matter, since the database is the same," he added.
However, he recalled that services such as providing laundry or route information services are included in the ticket price. There is also a separately issued pet transportation service. If a person is not taking a pet with them, the price of a trip in such a car may be slightly lower than in the next one.
"You can also opt out of travel insurance — this service is available at will, available in several versions, starting from 100 rubles. You can also save on the ticket price by booking it at a "non-refundable rate". This option is not valid by default, for this you will need to ask the cashier to consider this particular design option," said the deputy.
In addition, he clarified that the fare on long-distance trains for all children aged 10 to 18 years can be half the price of an adult ticket in the same direction. A 50% discount is provided not for all tickets, but for seats in reserved cars and double-decker trains.
"If we are talking about international traffic, then only travel through Russia is discounted. The discount is applied automatically when filling in passenger data in the app or by the cashier when buying tickets. But besides that, there are 30% discounts on Swallows for children under 18, and there are discounts on commuter trains," Tarbayev said.
In addition, you can get a discount in connection with your birthday. It applies to travel in compartment cars or peregrine falcons not only to the birthday boy, but also to his four companions a week before and a week after the date of the birthday. You can apply for it only at the ticket offices.
"There are benefits for both disabled children and large families - discounted tickets are issued at the ticket office upon presentation of the appropriate certificate. When booking a ticket for a person with a disability, they will also ask if they need an escort and at what stage? These services can also be arranged," the deputy concluded.
Earlier, on February 28, experts from the Tutu travel planning service.<url> reported to Izvestia that Belarus has become the most popular foreign destination for train travel among Russians in the spring. Within the Russian Federation, tourists most often choose St. Petersburg.
