Meloni, at a meeting with Trump, called for making the West great again

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called for making Western countries great again during a meeting with US President Donald Trump on April 17.

"For me, the West is not just a geographical space, it is a civilization, and I want to make this civilization stronger. And although there are problems between the two sides of the Atlantic, it's time to sit down and find solutions together. My goal is to make the West great again, and I think together we can do it," she quoted her statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

At the same time, Trump himself positively assessed such a proposal.

"We can," he said.

While Meloni flew to Washington, Rubio and Witkoff went to Paris.

Earlier, on March 15, Meloni said that Italy would not send its troops to Ukraine. She also called on the EU countries to work together with the United States to identify reliable and effective security guarantees.
