The Investigative Committee opened a case of a terrorist attack after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a power facility in the Kursk region.

A criminal case has been opened into the shelling of an energy facility in the Kursk region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on April 17 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.

According to the investigation, on the eve of April 16, Ukrainian militants using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacked an electrical substation in the village of Zvannoe in the Glushkovsky district, as a result of which civilians were left without electricity.

"The Main Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under paragraphs "a", "b", Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act")," the press service of the department said.

Petrenko clarified that nine more criminal cases are currently being investigated on the facts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on the energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region since March 20.

On April 12, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that after the shelling of three power facilities in the Kursk region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a criminal case had been opened into a terrorist attack. It was established that on April 10, 11 and 12, Ukrainian militants attacked high-voltage lines with the help of drones, as a result of which more than 19 thousand civilians were left without electricity.
