The Russian Orthodox Church urged not to buy Easter cakes with Orthodox symbols

You should not buy cakes with Orthodox symbols, so as not to allow an indecent attitude towards them. This was announced on April 16 by Archpriest Mikhail Potokin, acting head of the Synodal Department of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) for charity.
"We will not buy, so that later the packages will not be thrown into the trash and will not lie in an obscene place," he said during a Russia Today press conference.
The archpriest pointed out that the attitude towards images of Orthodox symbols remains on the conscience of people.
Thus, Potokin advised buying festive treats in a package without inscriptions with prayers and without images of saints and crosses.
Earlier, on April 12, Maria Preobrazhenskaya, Palmira Art pastry chef, told Izvestia how to choose Easter cake and cottage cheese. According to the expert, when buying a cake, you need to pay attention to the appearance. It should be smooth, not crumpled, not deformed. The cake should not show any breaks or cracks, and it should not crumble.
