Prices for a dozen eggs in March–April were 3% lower than last year, but prices for Easter cakes increased by about 9% over the same period. This is on Thursday, April 17, according to a study by analysts at ATOL, which is available to Izvestia.

According to their data, the average price for a dozen eggs in March–April was 115 rubles, and for a cake — 189 rubles. The study was conducted on the basis of anonymized sales data for 5 million checks.

"The average price of egg dyes was 82 rubles, which is 3% lower than last year. But Russians who prefer to decorate Easter eggs with stickers paid 38 rubles for a set, similar to the figures for 2024," the study says.

On the eve of Easter, the average cost of a kilogram of cottage cheese increased by 4% and amounts to about 168 rubles.

Earlier, on April 12, Maria Preobrazhenskaya, Palmira Art pastry chef, told Izvestia how to choose Easter cake and cottage cheese. According to the expert, when buying a cake, you need to pay attention to the appearance. It should be smooth, not crumpled, not deformed. The cake should not show any breaks or cracks, and it should not crumble. This is important because improper transportation and storage of the cake can lead to loss of presentation and quality of the product.
