You can reduce the calorie content of Easter treats if you move away from the classic recipe. However, if you do not abuse traditional desserts on a holiday, then you will not have to experiment with cooking — it is enough to observe the measure during the feast. Ekaterina Kashukh, an expert at the Hemotest laboratory and a gastroenterologist, told Izvestia on April 17 how to afford to celebrate Easter without harming her figure.

According to her, if you reduce the amount of sugar or use sweeteners instead, and add cottage cheese to the dough instead of butter, the calorie content of the cake will be lower. The glaze, according to the expert, can be made not from sugar, but from low-calorie yogurt. In addition, some people use whole-grain flour, bran, and even bananas instead of ordinary flour.

"Sometimes the cake is replaced with other dishes — paska (a pie with cottage cheese, which was baked instead of a cake in the South of Russia, Moldova, Romania), cookies and even fruit jelly. The calorie content of these dishes can also be controlled by replacing hearty ingredients with lighter analogues," the doctor said.

The gastroenterologist noted that it is not necessary to be sophisticated with the preparation of analogues of traditional treats — it is enough to observe moderation in the use of dessert.

"We don't eat a cake every day, and even if it's made according to a traditional recipe, 1-2 pieces won't damage the figure," she clarified.

However, this principle works only on condition that the rest of the time a person adheres to the principles of a rational healthy diet, eats fruits and vegetables, does not eat too much sweets and finds time for physical activity.

Meanwhile, if you lean on Easter treats for several days, this can lead to an exacerbation of chronic diseases of the digestive system, especially if a person has been fasting before Easter and has not eaten such dishes for a long time, the specialist noted.

Earlier, on April 16, Maria Preobrazhenskaya, Palmira Art pastry chef, told Izvestia how to choose the right Easter cake and curd for the festive table. According to the expert, when buying a cake, you need to pay attention to the appearance. It should be smooth, not crumpled, not deformed. The cake should not show any breaks or cracks, and it should not crumble. This is important because improper transportation and storage of the cake can lead to loss of presentation and quality of the product.
